Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Just came in from checking up on all of the birds. I don't know what went wrong but the angel wing wrap went terrible. I tripled check yesterday to make sure that it wasn't too tight which is why I wasn't surprised that the other wrap fell off. Now all of the birds wings are puffy and full of blood. I'm guessing somehow it was still too tight. I feel terrible now. I took everyone's wrap off and they are now recovering. I just hope I didn't do permanent damage.

Yes, he went swimming this morning. Uses the one leg a lot more than the other.

I will allow him to swim every day until his leg strengthens. I will post a video of my other little guys soon.

Yes they are!

I love these little guys.

I can remember when I was a small boy a duckling was late hatching out of his egg under my porch. His mama left him and he ended up seeing me first. Took care of him that entire summer until he wandered out to the pond to live with his brothers/sisters.

I can see dramatic improvements with the 2 I have in the bowl already.

I let them swim again and their legs look much straighter. They just need to gain some strength so they can start walking :)

I hope everyone else's ducklings are happy and healthy.

Cute story! and

Does anyone know how long it takes to recover from a Niacin deficiency? I've had this bird on vitamins since Sunday and saw improvement Monday but today she seems worse again.

This is my current brood box setup. These two are recovering with their legs taped up. Each one has his own cup to sit in. My mom made them this duck buffet so they can eat and drink on their own.

They are isolated from the others in a clear tub so they don't feel too left out. The others would trample them and use up too much of their energy. The water is vitamin supplement. They have figured it out and I am hoping for a speedy recovery.

Check out this picture haha
