How are you DG? Hows the new pups? Did your holderands stuff find their way home?

I've been readjusting baby chicks (silkies, BCMs, Javas, and brahmas) since its gotten cool suddenly. I lost one last night, and I'm not happy about it. Had to seperate youngsters and add insulation to the outside of brooders, as I don't use high wattage bulbs unless totally neccessary. I like to user a safer lower temp bulb, but keep things heat tight, if you know what I mean. I don't trust 75 and 100 watt bulbs in brooders.

Pups are good! I found my drake. Treating him now, locked up my other ones. Nothing to forage for this time of year anyway. Still need to find my other holderread bird. I was really hoping I could keep these to alive and safe because, they are the only holderread birds I haveand I really don't want to order more from them...

I hear ya! I've researved some stuff for spring (last fall, LOL). Its hard to get stuff, and its so good you don't want to lose it.

New duck house made from a water tank. this is the top, we kept the bottom to make s pool out of in the spring with a spout for drainage

next step is a platform so the water stays up out of the mud.

we placed the house so it faces east since most of our weather is from the other 3 directions.

You know, some friends of mine just made a little hen house out of one of those! They got it for free when I corner got damaged. They just fiberglassed it up, and flipped it over. LOL

Where did you get the water tank? I might need to look into some of those.

we had 4 .. need to make 2 more houses. around here you can find them on craigslist... just make sure what was in them first.
