I literally woke up sick and depressed this morning about the mama Eagle. Glad to see that dad returned with food. I was so happy to see that. I have copied and pasted a few comment below about the future of the babies. I'm happy AND sad that the babies will be removed. I'm happy because they will be safe and well cared for. But I am sad because the dad won't see them anymore.

Norfolk Botanical Garden: DGIF has the legal responsibility for the welfare of these eaglets and has made the decision to remove them, deeming this is in the best interest of the eaglets

Norfolk Botanical Garden: Since this cam has made this eagle family so famous, the decisions are taken very carefully to ensure the best option for the chicks.

Norfolk Botanical Garden: We will watch the removal process this morning in its entirety

Norfolk Botanical Garden: The truck is in place and the ground crew is starting

Norfolk Botanical Garden: The Wildlife Center of Virginia is in Waynesborough Virginia. The 2008 eaglet with Avian Pox "Buddy" was taken there. They are very good about sharing information about the progress of Buddy and I expect we will get frequent updates about these eaglets as well

I'm sure they'll at least keep us posted as to their progress, I hope so anyway. Jim & I both cried yesterday evening when we saw the male come in & feed them.

I'm glad they made the decision to remove them. I was thinking about the way my chicks' appetites just seem to quadruple when they start getting their 'real' feathers & growth spurt, & I was very worried about the ability of the male to feed three of them plus himself.
