Hi, I'm a first time chicken keeper, I need some advice on a very runty chick.
We got three barred rock chicks at a local grange about three weeks ago. Two are growing and feathering nicely, one seems not to have grown at all, she's about the size of a 3 day old chick, I would say 1/3 the size of her sisters or even smaller.
She seemed to be eating and drinking okay, wasn't being picked on, so we let her be until last night when we noticed her crop seemed very distended and full of something that we could feel through the skin. We isolated her in a separate brooder and gave her a few drops of olive oil. I massaged the mass and it seemed to soften. It feels exactly like a beanbag or something similar, individual grains of food move freely in the crop, but it seems to be overfull. The chick doesn't seem distressed but has been sleeping more than usual. She did poop a little overnight but the mass has not moved. We've tried holding her upside down and massaging to expel the mass, but she's so tiny a delicate, and we weren't able to do make anything happen without risking hurting her. I gave her a couple ccs of water with a syringe to try to break up the mass but no luck so far. The skin is so stretched it's nearly transparent.
Does anyone have a recommendation for treatment? If I leave her as is, I am afraid she will simply starve to death. She's clearly failing to thrive (both before the crop issue and even more so after) and if she's not going to make it, I want to treat her kindly and make sure she's comfortable. She truly seems not to have grown at all.
Any advice would be appreciated. As of now she is with her sisters and does not appear to be in pain. Thanks.

Did you find anything to do for her.?

I have a similar one that just won't grow. No crop problem. But just always looks the same size.

I've kept her off food overnight and her crop is now quite a bit smaller, so maybe she's doing better. I have her eating some yogurt mixed with olive oil now and she seems hungry.
