Im not sure if three weeks is too early to tell, but im wondering if this is most likely a cockerel? This seems to be alot of comb development for a three week old, but this is my first Silverudd, so i dont know whats ‘normal’. What should i be checking for when trying to determine gender - is it even possible at this age? From other posts here i can see that theres a difference in the feathers between the genders - but im finding it hard to know exactly what to look for.

This is the only one that hatched out of a batch of 7, so we will be keeping it either way. Super social and friendly little chicken, that loves to sit on us while eating treats :)

I wouldn't be so quick to assume at 3 weeks that it's a cockerel. They tend to have decently large combs. I'm in the same boat as you, however ours are 10 weeks.. So don't hold your breath, this breed is HARD to determine.
