I have a three year old IB peacock with a beautiful train who I've never seen display. He lives with two other 2 year old peacocks and three 2 year old peahens. He recently started doing his mating call but still is not displaying his tail feathers.

Could he be depressed? Are there some peacocks who just don't display?

Could be two things. First it could be that if he's not alpha he might not fan in fear of another male. Is the call just a single holler and then a space then followed by another call or is it a series of calls back to back?

It's a series of calls ... like a "wahhhhhhh ahhhhhhh ahhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhh"

Ok. I'm surprised he's not fanning then.

He's practicing his big boy voice, depending on your weather, within weeks he'll really ramp the hollering up and probably be showing off. Please keep us posted.

Interesting.. it was unseasonably warm a few days these past two weeks.. it's back down to the 20's now in OH though. Yuck! I hope he does display.. he's got the most beautiful train!

Yep, the cold weather will shut him down... For awhile at least, post some pics when he does.
