Throw a puppy into the mix

Aww, he's so cute!!

Don't wory, the puppy stage won't last forever

If he wasn't so cute there might be a serious problem with the fact I haven't slept in days. He raised hell when I put him in his crate last night, so we compromised and locked him in the laundry room. He eventually shut up at @ 2am and was wide awake again @ 4. If he only slept at NIGHT....

Jake is the terrier in my avatar.... He is aproximately 10 years old, I have had him for 6 years. He was dumped by the interstate by his previous owners. He was not neutured or house-trained... I took him to the vet first thing & fixed him. House broken execept for one thing. He will mark any plastic bag, I just don't leave any on the floor! He is guarding 6 2 mos old chickens in my picture. He does not hurt another "pet" in my house-hold. This includes kittens, full grown cats, puppies, and the female dogs. He does get in tussles with a part Redbone hound male, who weighs 4 times what he does and he wins! Now if there is a mole around, chipmunk, etc, all bets are off, he catches them & kills them. The only thing he does to the chickens are: roll around in their poo, eat their scraps, ie tomatoes...
I let them all free range together, just have to watch out for the UPS & Fedex guys, he does not like them, they bribe him with doggie treats.... Vet said he is part JRT & Wire-haired Toy Fox Terrier....

Cats do not last long around here...they will not stay in the fence and the coyotes love 'em.

Enjoy everything with him.........even his keeping you awake, because puppyhood does not last long.

Our guide dog in training puppies 'tested' the rules about then, also called 2nd puppy hood.

plenty out online if you look- be consistent and it isn't too bad, only needed a few corrections in the housebreaking department (I.E> don't replace the carpet till he's a year?)

Thanks, all! He waited to go out after his nap tonight and 'went' in the yard. I was so happy he got 2 milk bones! Then he started fetching the tennis ball (even though it barely fits in his mouth) and dropping it right in my hand

More milk bones. He's getting used to the laundry room at night and I've cut off his food after 8pm. Pointless because he's being so good he's getting stuffed full of treats. He learned the difference between chew toys and furniture. There was a scare today when I found my favorite girl limping. But he doesn't attack the chooks, just gets curious. The limp went away in 20 minutes

The kitties have warmed up to him, but now I'm afraid the horses will squish him if he ventures out to the pasture. Not likely, as this little guy seems as smart as he is cute. Horsefeathers, they're made for catching pests, and this one already has 1 kill. I'm glad he didn't bring 1/2 a mouse inside.
