Ticking Peachick

First please no morality lectures. I am trying to decide what is best for this peachick. In addition to its other issues, I am now washing it for pasty bum, and still a scab on umbilical code. I'm adding a picture just after today's wash. It is not thriving despite my best efforts. Still looks the size of a newly hatched, easily half the size of its hatch mates. Is it time to euthanize?View attachment 3195718
It must have several internal problems. It's too bad, I know you've bonded with the little one.
Even if you don't cull it, it probably won't live more than another week or two.
I'm sorry it's come to this.

Don't cull it yet. Put Neosporin on the navel and give it one drop of Baytril in its mouth today and tomorrow do the same.

Or if you are willing to tube feed it some Kaytee Baby Bird Food put the Baytril in the mix.

I agree. I wouldn't give up on it unless you think it's really suffering.

I've never tube fed peafowl but I have saved several other birds from the brink by tubing that Kaytee baby bird food. I have mixed an antibiotic in when needed (which it sounds like yours could do with) but even without it, the nutrient boost is often enough to kick start their own eating / digestion. Sometimes they only need one tube feed and other times they need it over a few days.

You could start tracking its weight as well and as you gradually stop the tube feeding you will be able to know if it's continuing to put on weight on its own.

Unfortunately I had to make the decision to cull this little guy when I found him unable to stand. I didn't have access to Kaytee baby bird food but will be getting some to add to my first aid kit. Each time is another learning experience.
Thank you for your advice and support.

I have some Kaytee baby bird food on order to add to my poultry meds. I saw this product and wondered if it is suitable for Vitamin B/Niacin for ducklings and peachicks.

I am not knowing on that product but I do know that vitamin B should be withheld when treating for cocci with Corid or amprolium.
