I'm from New England and we are loaded with deer and dog ticks. I was curious if chickens help control the tick population by eating them or if there is another type that does, I heard Guinea hens do, if so will they live peacefully with existing LGD's?

some do better than others. research what do. I beleive the smaller breeds like OEGBs and brahmas are better, but i may be mistaken

For what it's worth, we haven't had any ticks in the two years since we got the chickens. Or any other pesky bugs, for that matter.

We were hopeful that chickens would put a dent in our tick population but it's slow-going. I know they do eat them but we still get dozens per week between people and pets around here. It might just take a while to get the population numbers down.
