Time to decide...do I egg carton or not?

WOW!!! I love it!! Wishing you such good vibes!

What did you give for you silkie eggs if you dont mind me asking? My daughter decided thats what she wants to take to fair this year. I got 8 day old blue silkies from the farm store for 2.49 each. From what Ive heard that was really good. They are 5 weeks old today. I wish I knew how to send pics Ive got a few my hubby put on the computer for me.

I honestly dont remember what i paid for the eggs- it was on ebay. Somewhere around 20 dollars. However, I threw out four yesterday that were clear- infertile. And most of the eggs are very very pointy eggs. I would recommend buying silkie eggs from someone on here- you will get better eggs, better packing, etc.

Just wanted to say Hi and Happy Hatching. I am using a LG and I am in my first ever Hatch, I feel that I am doing ok with it. I started a thread called "Anyone hatching in a Little Giant" I got some great advice and met some really nice people. I am using a still air and hand turning.

24 shipped eggs
4 Po broke
2 started early and died in shell
13 healthy babies
5 still hanging in the bator

24 local eggs
2 infertal
1started early and died in shell
1 pipped low and bled died in shell
10 healthy babies
10 still hanging in the bator

Hope ya all have a great hatch, there is a post on the thread I had going with a link to "Dry incubation" That really helped me.

HAPPY HATCHING VIBES BEING SENT YOUR WAY

edited to say: I used the egg carton method and loved it. I will be using this method again. I really think it helped not having my other eggs rolled around by failing babies. Good luck

Do you have a humidifier around? i mean one of those that you use in the kidsroom in the wintertime when the humidity is low and they are sick?
I had the same problem as you , couldnt get the hum. up. So i put the humidifier on the floor near the table where the bator was.(the bator was stickin a bit over the tables edge) and the hum. in the table rose to a perfect level. On a low setting a humidifier will run a night and this should be enough.

I dont have a humidifier. My son never gets sick...knock on wood.
Look on here where it says image hosting and you can get your pics uploaded here. My friend Kayla, aka yellowdragon traded the eggs for some chicks with me. She might be able to help you out. PM her.
