Do Sebastopols live 40 years like other geese do? (if so then I will be VERY old by the time they pass). I hear that geese sometimes only live into their 20's, do you know if they live shorter lives in colder climates?

i think the length of life depends mostly on quality of living conditions. Housing, food, water and of course predators would all be a factor. Otherwise yes geese can live a very long time.

Okay then one day I will be a wrinkled old lady with some wrinkled old geese...lol

lol Sasa I like that mental image. We ship birds all over the country when the weather permits. Coast to coast, nothing is too far when the weather is right to send them out.

How do you ship them without them being traumatized?, they're so high strung as prey animals are. I'm in CO, that's a very long way from you. I'm assuming they would be sent on a plane, how do you make sure the airlines don't lose them or worse?

Shipped to Montana this year, about to send to Washington.

They get placed in a special shipping box, driven to the PO at the end of the day and taken to the airport to go out express mail. Some arrive the next morning, some arrive the following (depending on hub locations and distance) They can be tracked via bar code just like other express packages.

My Sebbies are talkers,but not high strung, once in the box they settle in for the trip aside from a few honks or weeps.

Thank you Sasa glad I could help with the pictures. They are worth a thousand words. I bet you now have a better idea of what the colors should look like. Even grey sebbies can be mistaken for blue because of different shades of grey.

yes they can. Ruru and I both have greys and 2 look similar the others are all over the place with tone and degree of dark or light.

Thank you guys! I have my ducks' colors down but not the Sebastopols, my other geese are Embdens and Toulouse so there is no color guessing there. This is the first time I have seen non-white Sebastopols, they're such wonderful birds, I wish I had discovered them alot sooner.

Celtic Farms, can you ever overnight your geese so they are only traveling for a day at the most?

Sasa they travel express mail and nothing else. Many times when they leave Orlando they are at the new homes PO the next day. It depends on hubs and routing which we cant control. The only other option is Delta Dash at 300-400 with expensive hard crates required.
