You said a mouthful there, diva. She does seem a bit lost, often just sitting on the roost alone in the middle of the day, but at least, she isn't starving herself to death sitting on an empty nest.

Tiny laid her first post broody egg today, yea!

Good thing, too, since most of my hens are on vacation now.

Thank you, she is, isn't she? She's getting prettier, the older she gets. And she's very sweet, too, and thankfully, has good eyesight, unlike her mother.

Oh, dear, poor Tiny. She has a new boyfriend, much to her shock, dismay and total disgust. She's been chased, thunked on the head and had mating attempted several times today. Her flock rooster, Isaac, myself and my husband have all run to her rescue at various times. She took to hiding out at the back screen door to avoid her young suitor. Who is it, you ask? Well, here is the young stud muffin. His name is Deacon. He is all of 11 weeks old. The first time she gave up and squatted for him, he didn't even know quite what to do so he kept thunking her on the head and pulling out her feathers until she ran screaming for the coop.

That little whippersnapper is full of himself, I swear. He may be a handful when his hormones really kick in. He follows me everywhere, flies up on my shoulder if someone bugs him. He pecked his own daddy in the head when Isaac dared to eat scratch from a pile that Deacon was eating from first. He's a complete mess, this one.

Sumi, Raven is a doll. She is now in the main flock. Isaac is inundated with teenagers. Still, every evening when he goes to roost, he sets himself at his usual place and doesn't budge, no matter what chaos ensues in the coop, even when Deacon had Tiny by the head behind the poop bucket and was trying to drag her out screaming. Ike was dozing off. He's like an old man snoozing in a rocking chair at roost time these days, lol. We had to rescue Tiny yet again and put Deacon on the roost by his sister, Delia, with orders to "SIT! STAY!". It should settle down soon when all the kids (Indy, Rex, Ira, Deacon, Delia and Raven) are used to being in there. Some of the hens are already getting used to having Indy and Rex around, especially Neela and Panda, who follow them around when free ranging.

Your chickens are such characters, you could write a book about them and their antics. And what is with Tiny and the young studs? Is she a challenge for them or something? LOL Though she does seem to attract the nice young males. Deacon is gorgeous! Who's Raven's dad, by the way? She seem to have inherited her temperament from him.
