Tip of Roosters Beak Broke Off

You can also use acrylic (like we use on our nails) to build a false beak.
Clean and sanitise the area first. Use something that will remove excess oil from the area to help the acrylic to adhere. Ive used a primer for acrylic nails. This would smart like billy-o so don't get it anywhere near the injured bit.
You will need help to hold your bird. Then very gently file to shape.
Painkillers that are suitable can be given as there are a lot of nerve endings and it can be painful depending on the severity of the break.

Thank you guys so much. I think I might do the super clue or acrylic idea... Is there a preference? What painkillers could I give her? She seems to be fine. She is free ranging now but you can tell she isn't pecking very hard. Her crop isn't that full either but I am going to give her some scrambled egg in a bit to give her a boost. She is drinking a lot of electrolyte water which is good.

I had the exact thing happen to an 8 week old barred rock a few months ago. Broke the tip off to where there was a lot of skin and meat showing. I really didn't know what to do with it, so I just put some blu-kote on it and hoped for the best. Her upper mandible was a lot shorter than the lower mandible.

She was tender for several days, so I dampened the feed so she could pick up food better.

And well, a couple months later, her beak is fully grown back in with no signs of ever having been broken!

So your bird should heal just fine. Don't let any other birds peck at it. Thats why I used the blu-kote so the others wouldn't mess with it and it didn't get infected. I used a q-tip to apply it.

Good luck!

Thank you so much. No birds seem too interested in her probably because she is playing it well. I will definitely give her a little more (soft) food tonight :)

Thank y'all so much for your advice. Makes me feel so much better to know I am not the only one with this particular issue. I love my birds so much!

Ugh it didn't work out very well.... Pretty sure it's worse now since she knocked it trying to get it off her beak. I thought it had dried but noooo. Tried to push it back but it's now glued to the side... Ugh I'm so frustrated. I do not want to use acetone to loosen it because it might hurt her. I did just feed her some scrambled egg to make sure she is able to eat still and she gobbled it up.

What should I do?!

Yup deffo don't use acetone.
As long as she can eat I would leave it for a few days. Make sure it's clean and that other chickens don't bully or peck her. I think the blue coat on a qtip is a good idea.

After a week or so re evaluate and if it's healing you could gently file the blob down a tad.
Contine to offer soft or wet food.

She's really lucky to have you. I'm sure she'll be fine.
Keep us updated x

I would just leave it alone. As long as her beak is not glued together and she can eat and drink well, don't mess with it. You might hurt her. Her beak is going to grow. In a few weeks it should be long enough to cover all exposed skin and a couple weeks after that, the beak should be back to normal. If this piece is still attached at that point, you can use a guillotine type dog claw trimmers, trim off some of it and with a nail file, file it down to beak length.
