tips for building chicken coops on wheels

You can make it fairly small then... Polish are kind of like silkies as I understand. I used 2x4’s for my base and 2x2’s wherever possible to cut down on weight. 3/4” or smaller hardware cloth for the sides and I covered my run portion with white tarp and bird netting. This was beneficial for both our rainy season and shade in summer. I don’t have an apron, but I lock my girls up every night in the secure roosting box.

I have a tractor that is 4 x 10, and I think that size works well for 3 or 4. The coop part is 3x 4.

The coop part is way too small to have feed and water up there, so I put those in the run area. Make sure there is easy access to the feed and water, and that they can be kept dry.

I do not have a nest box. Mine just make a nest in the bedding up in the coop area. They always choose a corner, so the eggs do stay clean.

I used pneumatic wheels as we get quite muddy and I have some rough ground.
Key for sure...learned that the hard way.
Those hard plastic wheels roll great on the concrete garage floor and even the packed gravel driveway.....but stink on rough pasture.
