Years ago I used to let tooth pain build up until I couldn't tolerate it. Then an ex military dentist ripped me a new one. After that I would make an appointment as soon as a tooth started hurting.

It only cured me as far as dentists. When I had a doctor look into the cause of my earache, He asked how long it had been hurting. When I told him about a year, he was not happy with me.

Root canals aren't fun. The one time I had one I had a job that was so miserable that I was glad to take the day off and have the root canal.

This was the fourth flare up with this tooth. First we were away and eventually it 'got better'. Second and third time I went to him - X rays showed nothing. So this time I said to myself : "Give it time. It will go away." High level of pain tolerance is not always a good thing. Swelling inside my mouth with an opaque center made me say to self : "Better do something about this." I really do know better.
