tired of skooting my birds from the coop

Yes, I have a waterer in the coop, in the run AND in the garden! So far we have not seen any hawks; but just like the movie "Chicken Run" they make a mad dash from coop to garden (the extra run is in-between) so they "make a run for the garden" when I shew them.
I am beginning to think that they were raised in a very large barn with other chickens. Having said that they are very docile and sweet.
So I should just give them time!

Their new coop is where they feel safe. After they get used to everything, they'll start coming out on their own. It just takes time.

Thanks. Yes, they came out today for the first time to eat the celery I threw down on the grass. They also followed me down to the garden before dusk! So we are making progress. I must admit I was a little concerned.

I think they feel safer with you and that's why they like to follow you. That's nice, that they trust you so much already.
