I am soooooo sorry to hear you got such lousy advice! Personally, I don't think there is a bit of difference in the taste of a duck egg compared to a chicken egg. I do find duck eggs have a bit firmer whites and a bit thicker yokes but hey, I actually prefer thicker yokes! Everybody that buys my eggs tell me they can't tell the difference either. Many of the women who get eggs from me actually prefer duck eggs for baking.
Now I do have some who don't want duck eggs. They admit they can't tell the difference in taste but say things like "I don't like the texture." Or the one that just kills me, "Oh, I just don't like the idea of eating a duck egg."
Gimme a break!!
Now I have to ask, you said you throw your duck eggs out? How do you mean? As in "in the garbage"?? Hundreds of them? Why in the world would you do that? Why not feed them to dogs, cats, or even back to your ducks if nothing else?
I don't ever waste an egg. I paid for that egg and it's gonna be put to some use. If I get one that is cracked or the dumb ducks lay it in the water or something, I will either eat it myself or, if I don't think it's fit for human consumption for some reason, I'll feed it to Buck and at times I've even fed them back to my chickens and ducks.
There is just no reason at all to just throw them away. Hope that helps.
God Bless,
