I have a friend who breeds them, maybe I will trade LO roosters for icelandic eggs.

Our TSC is 15 minutes from my house. The next closest ones are a 4 hour round trip drive, so I don't venture out to them! I've been thinking about getting cayuga eggs from McMurray but I'm still mulling it over.I got my Cayuga ducklings from cackle hatchery in a surprise box. I have to drive 45 minutes to one TSC that has mallards, khaki Campbell's Pekin's, white layers. The other one is about 30 minutes in the other direction for Rowens, golden 300s, and whatever else comes on the truck that day.
I'd really like to "try again" with them, with the hope that they'd be more friendly if I raised them myself as chicks lol. The ones I have were adults when I got them and they are soo skittish. They do approach me when I go outside now but it has taken 6 months to get to that point. They won't let me lay a hand on 'em.I have a friend who breeds them, maybe I will trade LO roosters for icelandic eggs.
Out of curiosity, where'd you get your Icelandic eggs? I have two Icelandic hens and I want to love them but they won't let me!
I think I'm just squeezing in now! My silkie Glenda went broody the other day and I held off putting anything under her incase she didn't take. I pulled the trigger today and got four silkie eggs for her to sit on, it would have been six but they didn't have anymore. I've just stuck my head in and she seems settled.
I do, too!No chicks at our local tractor supplythey have the bins and lights read though. I'll ask the manager next time I see him. I want assorted bantams.
I think I'll just get polish eggs from the local farm near us.My silkie is broody, too! She is sitting on 5 eggs laid 3/1...none of them are herslol. The other hens keep giving her more, too, but I marked the original clutch and have been taking the new eggs away so she doesnt run out of room. Someone even laid a double yolker for her lol. I took that one, too.
I do, too!
I’m not sure this is any at hatch... but there’s blue in the feathers pretty right away I think. I haven’t seen many in person though. This is sort of off topic but I guess not really...figured I’d ask you all - anyone know if there are differences between Wheaten and Blue Wheaten chicks at hatch?
