Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Trying not to be the bearer of bad news, but the little gosling passed. We nicknamed him Curious George yesterday so now he’ll be laid to rest as that. He was a spunky little dude but I don’t think that life was for him. We also had a Serama chick pass last night, not too sure why but she looked squished. She had been in the brooder with two moms and 6 siblings so really a lot of things could’ve happened. I’ve been a downer this morning but I found some mixed goslings on CL. Probably picking one up today and I’m excited. We’re also finally getting my formal breeding pens and two large runs today too - for free!
:hugs good grief I'm a hot mess. I'll cry for everyone. I've got enough tears to spare.

This hatch a long has brought many losses for all of us. Hoping we have a brighter future starting today!

I'm so sorry! Failure to thrive can be from a number of things with feed store chicks since the travel they go through to get to the store can be quite stressful. I hope the rest of your babies are perfectly fine and that's the last of your heart break. :hugs

Still hanging in there... No improvement but not worsening.

Chubs and all the bantams are getting along. One of the ones I just hatched is all by itself now šŸ˜‚ hoping I have mostly pullets

Do you have a vet that will do a fecal float for you? Maybe that would help to get to the bottom of what he's contending with so you can have a treatment plan.

He's on dewormer and antibiotics right now. No chicken vets anywhere near me we are in the sticks.

If you start to feel desperate, I just learned yesterday that even if vets won't see chickens some of them are still willing so send fecal floats to labs to give you some possible answers even if they don't do exams. I hope he starts to perk up soon!

Update! That was fast!

My lavender orpington in the other incubator has pipped as well. :pop
