Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Ok. Here is the BCM chick...

I can still see its egg tooth and it was wiggling, so maybe it's just taking its time? I am not experienced enough to know what a malpo looks like during hatching - would it be more obvious?

I feel better now that the other chicks aren't playing bumper cars with the eggs in there. I will be keeping a close eye on this bator today because this chick has been zipping for more than 8 hours, and there were the two other pips when I had to open it up, which I did in the bathroom with the shower on.

All of the chicks that are out look great, and that is worth any bump in the road, IMO!

Edited to removed redundant image.

If it has been trying to zip for 8 hours it's stuck. I would help it. There's almost no chance of assisting too early once the chick is already zipping. Just gently take the top off and allow the chick to push itself out. If you happen to see blood stop, apply light pressure, and put baby back for a while. I don't think you will though because it's half zipped.

As long as u can see the beak its fine. Probably just taking a rest.. it take a lot of energy to hatch..

Thank you so much, I really was feeling like it needs my help but wasn't sure if my gut was right.

It can take many hours to hatch but it doesn't take very long to zip. If that makes sense. I don't think I've ever had one take longer than a couple hours but after 8 hours something is definitely up.

Oh no! 😭 really hoping you see some veins, someone needs to throw you a bone!
So I got incredibly blessed last week line beyond belief so I knew some trouble was going to follow. I was completely expecting something to happen. I'll be fine, I'm butchering 2 cockerels today. Making some meat for my family 😁
