Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

How are things going @gmjarvi ?
Chick is out! No blood, I think he got tired and a little dried out as pieces of the membrane were stuck to him. That Janoel 12 gets dry! Going to try a sponge in the bottom next time.

Let's hope he perks up and encourages his siblings to hatch🤞

I'll be watching the other pips very closely today!

Great job helping the little one out!!

Gah my interent has been shocking so i have so much to catch up on lol.
I did a quick candle, just rolled over to D6. Looks like 12 clears and 11 developing in the shipped eggs, the two from my flock were also clear. Im a tad upset since only 1 welsummer is developing and 0 marans. Good thing i didnt tell my other half how much i spent on these eggs
I'm sorry you've caught the curse. Everyone on here seems to be having trouble with their marans.

Yep, I was even thinking I would be able to break the trend since I picked up my eggs locally and have hatched eggs from this flock so many times...at this point I'm just hopeful that whatever eggs are fertilized for all of us hatch healthy!

I had similar luck with local marans eggs in the past too.

Ack, now the BCM chick's feet are worrying me. They are curled up. Should I "splint" them if they dont improve? One of the other pips appears to be making some progress. 🙇‍♀️

It may be from getting stuck in the egg. I would wait a little while and hopefully the will straighten out while it's drying off and recovering from hatching. If not, then bandaids or vet wrap can both work well for straightening curled toes.
