Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Wonder how long and if she can hold on that long. I applied the ointment and I'll reapply it at 430 am

Doesn't seem to be struggling, but since it never pipped its way behind

She's definitely behind, there's no way to know exactly how long it will take to absorb it. I'm glad the ointment seems to be working well. I may have to switch to using it myself! I hope you wake up to Lucky being ready for you tomorrow morning!

I'm hoping so too. She's not weak at all. If I touch her nose she reacts. I hope she makes it.

Not bad just looks like a hard hatch is all. What ointment are you using? I couldn't find the post that said it.
Triple antibiotic ointment. It's been staying on for about 8+ hours without drying out. The olive oil lasted maybe 2 hours.

This duckling has a strong willpower. It's fighting to get out.

The yolk size has gone down I'm hoping tomorrow sometime it'll be okay to get out and let it stretch its legs.

Despite my spectacular failure of a first hatch I'm going to try again starting Sunday. I was given some advice after losing Uno that you should only set your eggs by the farmers almanac 🤨🤔🤨. Has anyone actually used this method or is this just more "wisdom" from my in-laws trying to educate city girl me about farm life?
No. It's like astrology. So if you believe in that stuff, go for it. I don't so I don't. Incubating takes practice. With time you'll learn and get better results.

I always used coconut oil. Never thought of the ointment like that.

I am glad its a little fighter. That should help it absorb the yolk a little faster.
