Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

One more OT comment: I have now demonstrated twice in the last week that asking for forgiveness is better than asking for permission 😂. Husband gave me the OK to get 8 ducklings today, and so naturally I came home with 8 ducklings and 4 chicks. And two boxes of girl scout cookies as a peace offering.
You have learned well, grasshopper, lol!
(Yes, I'm telling my age with that reference!)

I've just noticed if I leave them too long they get leg problems. It's a hard balance. I'll leave him for a bit. Thanks!
Hello I think this is what happened to me. I think I left him too long. I had to assist him and I think he’s crippled now. It’s been about 3 hours. One leg is crinkled in and one is pushed out almost the opposite as the toes curl up. He is unable to get up at all. Although he is trying extremely hard. I don’t know what to do.. will it be ok?
I made foot splints just now out of thin cardboard and vet wrap in attempt to spread his toes in the correct way for both feet. I’m so upset I should’ve helped him this morning but did not want to be too hasty. I’m so afraid that I will have to euthanize it, I’m going to be so upset if I have to do that.. what is your experience with the leg problems this one seems so so severe.

Do you have a picture?

What kinds of leg problems?

Splayed legs and curled toes.

Sometimes I've been able to fix them, sometimes not. Curled toes aren't as big of a deal as splayed legs. I had an adult with crooked toes and he lived a happy life. I had one with severe splayed legs and curled toes I finally had to put down. All you can do is give it a chance and hope for the best.
