Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Opal legbar chick anxiously awaiting its rhodebar hatchmate.

I have a chick that has now hatched. I assisted it (shrink-wrapped), but one of it's legs is weird. He/she uses it, but not a lot. it seems like it's hip is turned inward. Is this normal? Is there anyway to fix it if not? It acts like its trying to stand, but its unable to.

Does this look like splay leg?

If you don't have vet tape, a 2 inch band aid works well. I wrapped a piece of tape around the middle for extra strength.

I had my first slice, I make YUMmy pies, but this one pie makes your eyes roll back.

That looks amazing what kind of pie is that?

Happy that my one assisted silkie seems to be doing well. I moved her to the brooder and separated her with another who hatched today and is still weak and wobbley they are both doing good napping

Me too, especially on their little legs. I use the flexible bandaids, so they aren't as stiff. Makes it easier for them to move.
