Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

I now have two chicks in my shirt under a hot pad because the marans hatched (blue!) with a herniated navel and a lot of bleeding, and I want to give it a chance.

This hatch is going so much less awesome than the last one.

So 4 pullets, 5 cockerels?

The top 3 and lower 3 have head spots, the one's spot isn't showing well in the pic (third from the bottom) and it is farther back on the head.

If you don't have vet tape, a 2 inch band aid works well. I wrapped a piece of tape around the middle for extra strength.

Aww, they're so precious though! How big is the herniation? They can often recover from it as long as the intestines are not poking out.

The little one seems better. I didn’t wrap it. It was getting around better. I’ll check again in a little bit. I have an egg that has started. The membrane seemed dry so I put a little coconut oil on it. It’s been quite awhile should I do anything?

It does look like it may be splay leg. Does the leg keep shooting out from under the chick? Do you have vet wrap/Med Wrap/ Sports wrap? It's the bandage that sticks to itself without adhesive.
