Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

So, it looks like I may have to assist. I checked the little one. This little one didn't pip in the air sac. It also looks like it may be shrink wrapping. I removed some of the shell and applied coconut oil. I guess I should have taken some pics. I also opened the air sac. She was chirping the entire time. I've put her back in the incubator for a little while and will go back and check on her. Before removing her initially, I candle the remaining eggs. I found one that I must have missed as it appears not to have even started developing. One has an external pip and the other 2 don't show any sign of movement and no pips. I left them in there in case I just wasn't seeing movement.

It sounds like you're already doing a wonderful job helping the little one!

I went back and checked on her. I removed more shell, applied more coconut oil. She was chirping still. I’ve put her back. I’m not sure if she is still trying to absorb the yolk sac. I’m going to try and find pics of what it may look like. I don’t see anything that resembles a yolk to me.

I don't see veins. Do you see veins in person? I don't know how you got so much shell off without breaking the membrane. I'm impressed.

The shell was loose from the membrane. Should I leave her be or continue? We lost a baby last year with a broody mom that was shrink wrapped but I didn’t know to do anything. I don‘t want to wake up to a dead baby If there is something more that I can do.

The membrane is looking very translucent which is a good sign that she's ready. Since the shell is coming off so easily it was probably quite dry during incubation which may be why she's just a little stuck. Since you're able to, I would pick some more shell away by the rump to see if there is any yolk sac and if not I would slowly peel back some of the membrane and allow the chick to push out. If you happen to see blood just apply light pressure with a q-tip or paper towel and continue to wait.
