Depending on shell colour you can see from day 3. But as a rule, don't rule out any eggs until day 10. The exception being if you see a blood ring or the egg smells

My assisted fluff seems to be doing good very wobbly still but it’s Sebright friend is still wobbly too I’m glad I have that one to compare to because it hatched only a bit earlier and is still acting tired like my assisted one.

I just candled my remaining 6 or so eggs 2 are still moving and haven’t internally pipped but all the others are not moving but seem developed. I really want to know what Went wrong. The air cells look very large maybe it’s shrink wrapping? Can any be saved I left them in there. I’m blaming myself because it’s my first time and my humidity has really been up and down maybe I’ve been keeping it too low during lock down? Does anyone know what a candled egg that’s shrink wrapped looks like?

I did it. She’s fussing up a storm now. But she’s out. No bleeding or yolk sac that I could tell. Her name is Coco for all the coconut oil. Thanks for the help and support. I want to go wake me hubby and tell him what I did.

I put some eggs in on a friday night 3 weeks ago, looks like I will have some chicks....Sat. Sigh.

I have a dozen Dominiques in my Chinese incubator and 8 of a mixed variety from my Swedish Flower roo and Barred rock, RIR, and BO hens(first time hatching my own eggs). How soon should I see development in these eggs, they are about 4 days in now. I normally don't take them out once in the incubator....

If they are a brown egg, you probably will not be able to see development until 5-7 days. The lighter the egg the better you can see.

Honestly I would wait until day 7 so that you can clearly see development.

The best eggs to candle are duck eggs. They're not like chicken eggs the shells are a bit different.

I need to candle mine tonight or this weekend. They weren't fertile last month but now that they have a pool they're mating ducks are so funny, cute, and odd all at the same time.

I'm joining in the hatchathon, a quick check of the Hatchabatch app suggests that they might hatch a day early... but these are Brahma chickens and they are anything but timely!
