Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Baby 4 ended up seeming a little stuck. Pushing and pushing with no progress, and then she got her wing out and that was it. I didn't want her to injure the wing somehow, so I took her out of the incubator and moved the shell out of the way and she popped out like this!

I put her back in the bator and she wriggled out the rest of the way by herself. She's resting now.

FINALLY! We have eggs being laid. One of the old lady hens started up again. One egg a day. Have 3 so far and SO tempted to start up an incubator again... Or should I be patient and wait for the breeding chicken tractor coop thingy to be finished. Hmmm 🤔

I’m asking the wrong people.

I mean, you know the answer is yes. Lol

Newborns! 3 of 4 from this hatch. Baby 4 is still a bit crusty looking and asked not to be photographed until she fluffs up a bit more 😉.There are 3 eggs left, but my gut says they are DIS. It is D21 and everybody else hatched early. I will candle the remaining eggs tonight and evaluate, but probably won't start poking around in the air cells until tomorrow night.

I'd love to hear breed mix guesses! 🤣 All of these hatched from white eggs, which has narrowed down the possible moms quite a bit. I realize it will probably be impossible to tell, but I think it's fun to guess.
Possible parents are:
Dad: SL wyandotte or barnyard frizzle.
Mom: white leghorn, olive egger (neither of mine behave and lay green. I think 1 lays white and 1 lays brown 🙄), Icelandic, or my mystery mix hen (she is black, smooth feathered with dark comb and wattles (like, almost purple), black legs/feet with 5 toes on at least one foot. I have no idea which egg she lays but I'm pretty sure it's white).

(I think SLW is the daddy for this last one!)

They are so cute! I agree that the third one looks like SLW roo. The first one I would guess is from your Olive Egger only because I get so many EEs and OEs that hatch with the chipmunk pattern and White Leghorns are yellow peeps. Your frizzle mutt could look like anything though.

I think Milagro's daddy is the SLW roo as well. She's darker than this chick, but has that wyandotte face lol.

I agree with the first one possibly having an OE momma. The eyeliner and chipmunk back seems like a give away.

The 4th chick is a yellow peep, but hatched from a brown egg. I have one other yellow peep from my broody that also hatched from a brown egg (possibly the same momma, the eggs looked similar in color, shape, and size). The one that hatched earlier is starting to get wing feathers that are pretty interesting, but broody Judy won't let me get to the chicks anymore lol so I cant take any pictures!

Yep, the frizzle mutt could literally look like anything. Surprisingly, he and the SLW share the hens fairly well. I know they've both mated nearly every hen out there! When would I notice frizzling? A couple weeks in or so?

You'll probably start to notice it after a week. There will be no question by 2 weeks. This was my 2 week old frizzle. lol
