Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

sweetheart watching quietly from her corner as babies come rushing to get a fresh drink of water last night. It's so cold their water freezes day and night. We change it twice a day but the babies come running every time we go in.

Here I am!

4 Emu eggs into the ‘bator last Saturday. I’ve weighed once, and they lost a little too much weight. My temp was high (98) for some reason, so I turned it down to 97. If all goes well they should hatch the week of 3/22/20.

I am also on a waitlist for English Orpington eggs. I have Serama eggs coming this week, but they’ll hatch in Feb.

There is one egg still good in the incubator :fl

Thanks to wolfwalker, I’ll get some closer emu eggs hopefully next week. My sister lives right there and is up for the task.

Can’t have just one emu ;) Actually... at this point I’d be happy with one.

Oh no! Not again! I’m sorry. :hit

You should really get some eggs from the guy I ordered from. Not close, but everyone seems to have great hatch rates from his eggs. One person just got a 100% hatch rate. Anyway, his prices are very reasonable.

I really want to get my hands on some ostrich eggs. I love ostrich. My grandfather used to incubate them and raise them when I was a kid, I fell in love with those dumb birds 😂 they used to make me laugh so hard. We were helping fix their stalls and they kept pecking us on the head and stuff 😂

One of them stuck its head near my grandfather's workbench and started eating stuff of it 🙈 they're so funny.

I have always heard that Ostrich are mean. I’d love to have one if it wouldn’t terrorize us lol!

His were never mean but I think it's because he spent a lot of time with them. They were basically trained. When he would yell they would just look at him and smarten up.

They were like big dogs. When they would use the bathroom it would sound like a toilet flushing 😂

There's an ostrich at the zoo near our house and they bring you on like a safari ride and I swear that ostrich always tries to get me every time I go in there 😂 It's the same ostrich every single time.

There was a cute emu when I went to the zoo a couple of months ago and he was sad because nobody was feeding him. So I brought a ton of food over and started feeding him. A lot of people were looking at me like I was crazy because they thought he was aggressive. But I think people are scared of such large birds due to false information people spread.
