Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

His were never mean but I think it's because he spent a lot of time with them. They were basically trained. When he would yell they would just look at him and smarten up.

They were like big dogs. When they would use the bathroom it would sound like a toilet flushing šŸ˜‚

There's an ostrich at the zoo near our house and they bring you on like a safari ride and I swear that ostrich always tries to get me every time I go in there šŸ˜‚ It's the same ostrich every single time.

There was a cute emu when I went to the zoo a couple of months ago and he was sad because nobody was feeding him. So I brought a ton of food over and started feeding him. A lot of people were looking at me like I was crazy because they thought he was aggressive. But I think people are scared of such large birds due to false information people spread.
Very true. I once went to a zoo that had a couple of emu, and peacocks, roaming free. You’d turn around and get surprised with this really big bird in your face staring you down lol.

Id love that! Our zoo has free roaming chickens and peacocks and they follow you if you have food. A peahen got mad at me because her chicks were near my feet under the table and I was talking to them šŸ˜‚ she wanted to kill me. It kept pecking my pants.

@ShannonsChimkens @Rockporters , I would love you know what your favorite informational links are for hatching emu eggs! There is someone close to the Sebastopol eggs that has emu eggs and there are a couple people local to me that would like emus...you see where this is going. lol, I would like to at least educate myself on hatching them before I agree. Especially since I would be using a Hovabator for that large of an egg and I don't like it as much as my other incubators.

I was going to get goslings, but I don't think I'm going to anymore.

I would be hatching them for other people. I don't have a pond yet so I'm limited to my little flock of chickens until we move. One day though! Sebastopols are harder to come by around here so it's kind of hard to pass up the opportunity.

Buckets of water. They don't need a pond. You could also do a kiddie pool. Im using buckets of water with my ducks because it's too cold to fill the pond up, it'll freeze then probably crack.

Now you're just tempting me to try it, lol. If the water would stay clean longer than a couple hours I might consider the baby pool idea. I have a couple collapsed discs in my neck so I'm not the trooper I used to be.
