Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

My understanding is that they come in both standard and bantam sizes. I've only dealt with standard, which are tiny, but not bantam-tiny. Do you know for sure yours is a bantam? I've heard those can go a little bit earlier.

That is one cool looking chicken!
I don't even know what she is, I've just been calling her a bantam golden laced Polish 😂 that's what the guy who was selling her called them. I had 2 but the other one ventured into the woods and never returned.

I would assume that she is a bantam since she is the same size as the sebright. She's a flyer too and can fly over the 8 foot fencing.

😂 You want to come catch her... Basically this chicken was never handled when I got her and slowly we have been trying to get her used to us. Last time I had to handle her was because she got attacked by a bird of prey and I had to check her. My hand was ablood mess after from her scratching me.

She will eat treats from me though. I threw goldfish crackers down to her the other day and she loved them 😂
I remember you saying you had a chicken like that and thought maybe this was her. Sigh, it was worth a shot 🤣

Like, I'm looking right now at Light Brahma hatching eggs at Cackle. With shipping, a dozen of them is $54.36. That's $4.53 per chick if by some absolute miracle you managed to hatch 12 chicks after shipping. Whereas, I could pick up chicks at the farm store for $2.99 each. That's why I just don't savvy why it's such a popular thing :idunno
I was going to buy Brahma eggs last year. I just happen to find the chicks at Tractor Supply for $1 each. So Glad I didn't buy the eggs. I have light and buff now and a rooster for just a few bucks.:celebrate

@FortCluck I have no doubt your girl is a bantam. Especially if she is the size of a seabright. A standard would be more like typical sized chicken with medium to large eggs. I have lots of bantam sized chickens and they hatch at or around 21 days. I've not heard of chicken eggs that aren't 21 days. Ducks go longer. Quails go shorter. I googled and there are standard sized polish.

Thank goodness for Google 😂 we would be lost without it sometimes. I do believe she is bantam and her chicks will probably be super duper cute. Now I can't wait!
