Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

I did a little early candling just to see how things might be going. Most are looking good. One that my friend gave me has a really good looking embryo but the air cell is on the side of the egg. I've never seen that before. It's not tilted off the top, floating, or saddle shaped. It's firmly attached smack on the side. Think it'll still hatch?

I've seen them before but I can't remember if I hatched one. I usually find that the air cells sort themselves out as the chick grows. Hopefully this one will too! Keep us updated on that one!

I have one that is kind of on the side as well! Definitely not detached or saddled. It also has a very dark spot where the air cell would be normally. Keeping a close eye on it.

The chick is growing right on top where the air cell should be. I was like where the heck is the air cell? Looked around and found it on the side. So weird. They weren't shipped. I just drove the my friend's house in the same town.

I picked mine up from a farm a couple hours away. Must just be one of those weird glitches! I hope they both hatch for us!

Seeing if the chicks are alive and growing, tossing any clears, and seeing if the air cell is growing properly.

Do they move a lot at this stage? The few that I candled earlier today were moving but I had to sit still to see the veins and fluid move. It wasn’t as active as other days. Is that normal?

As long as the chick itsself has some kind of moverment you're good! 2 of mine quit sometime between day 10 and today. All the veins went to moosh which you could see at candling

Oh no. So if the veins are still moving that’s a good sign? Like floating. Or what do you mean they went to moosh?

I just candled my Gypsy Hen Eggs which are on day 7 and 22 of 25 are developing!!! I’m beside myself. 2 clears and a blood ring and the rest are dancing around looking amazing!!!! 15 Ameraucanas and 7 Marans. So pumped that they are looking so good considering they were shipped on a Thurs and trapped at the P.O. until Tuesday thanks to Presidents’ Day.
