I just checked the temp and humidity and realized I do have room for another dozen, lol. Bad move on my part!

Just set 10 Cream Legbar eggs in one of my incubators on behalf of a family member (you know...since I’m the only one that knows how to work them).

They’re due on the 22nd of March!

Anyone know how long Rhode island reds lay for? I got one today that's 3 or 4 today, her whole flock was killed by a raccoon... Can I assume she will never lay again? Or will some TLC help her lay again?

I would love to set some of her eggs next month

I don’t know why I didn’t ask this before I came to this day. But for the temp during lockdown: the temp when my egg turner was in was read at the top of the incubator and was good. Now that my eggs are lower, do I need to up my temp or leave it? Like the top is reading 99.6 but the bottom thermometer is reading 97

Im having the same problem with two hens I took in for someone. They are about 4ish yrs old and the rest of their flock was also taken by a raccoon. Ive had them since December, not a single egg from these two. Like they’re traumatized.

Maybe they’re just done?

Curious if yours conforms to your egg setting needs...

They slow down as they get older but hens can keep laying well into their "elderly" chicken years. We have an old hen that we aren't actually positive how old she is but we're positive of 4 years and likely 5-6. She hasn't stopped laying yet other than taking a break for winter. She was still laying 3-5 eggs a week. Anyway, I would think that after about 2-5 weeks for her to get over the shock and she should start laying again!

Yeah I'm hoping she will adjust over time or by next month and lay me some fertile eggs
