Ok, so the third toes are there, they're just little nubbins. I've heard of this before and I can't remember what it's called. It is genetic if I'm remembering properly though. Marans seem to be prone to more foot problems than most. My friend had a Marans with webbed toes.

No, it's not normal...I'm sure it can live just fine with nubbins but you definitely wouldn't want to breed.

If it was just the weird toes that’s one thing but something is definitely wrong with it’s leg. It is not getting around normally.

I don't know an exact amount of time but I do know that if the chick is internally pipped then a safety hole will give you many more hours to decide.

I can only say what I would do but I'm a tinkerer by nature.
