Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Tomorrow is hatchery for the first lonely egg (1 of 14 shipped eggs) .. at least tractor supply helped me out with a few friends for it after she hatches... lol.
I got back into chickens a couple of years ago. My first incubation was a dozen shipped eggs, plus 2 extras. I only had one hatch. I also went to TSC for chick buddies for my solo hatch. Only 1 of 3 was actually a Cuckoo Marnas, though. The other 2 were Barred Rocks.
What kind of chicks did you get? What kind of egg do you have?

My husband came home yesterday from a out of town trip with 4 turkey chicks, 2 ducklings and 2 chicks. I have no brooder room for turkeys so I will spent my off day making a new brooder. I know nothing about turkeys, someone help me out on the need to know please.
Love it!! I’ve thought about turkeys. But right now, I think I need to get everything I already have going on figured out. I can’t wait to see pics and hear all about raising them.

Turkey poults are dummies. I'd keep them with the chicks. Chicks will teach them to eat and drink. I've raised mine on chick crumbles because a game bird feed can be hard to find. You can use flock raiser too. Turkeys have great personalities and can bond easily to humans. They just don't have much in the way of brains. So think of anyway they can get into trouble and then try to turkey proof it. What kind are they?
I have no idea, my husband said the guy told him but he didn't remember. All I know is they will be white.

Oh boy I could tell you some funny TSC stories 😂 One time I got 10 chicks and they were supposed to be all pullets. 6 of the 10 were Cockerels! Another time I got ducks and they said they were all the same breed... Nope, they weren't. Another time all were the wrong breed... Needless to say I stopped buying chicks at tractor supply 😂

I'd be careful keeping poults with chicks... Chickens can carry blackhead and it can kill all the poults in no time. It actually just happened to someone on here. They were fine for one day and the next she found all of them passed away

Just letting you know. Make sure to watch them closely.

Hatch is done for now 11 healthy chicks out of 14 eggs. Cute and very nice looking chicks.
