I would actually prefer genetic, because it's the only one of this breed I have in there! If its something environmental, like I didn't turn enough or it was too hot or something, the others could all be affected.Hopefully it was just a weird incident and not something genetic!

Mini update: I just snuck three of the surviving silkie eggs into the hatcher too. They all looked to be in lockdown, which I thought was odd for D16, but I put them in there anyways. I’ve never hatched Silkies before - is it normal for them to go into lockdown so early?
That would make sense then! The temps would get a little high on the hotter days and I couldn’t get them to lower for the life of me. Thank you!If your temps were a bit high it can cause early hatching. My Silkies seem to hatch with similar timeframes to many standard breeds.
