Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

Wow, thank you for sharing! I never knew it had an actual name. I'll have Google the feeder. Maybe pick one of those up. A couple of the farm store near me do stock them. At least the waterer.

As for the water trough. It's mostly on very hot days. When the horses have been drinking a lot and the waterline has dropped well below the rim. When puddles and shallower sources of water are dried up. I've considered building a ramp or something but that hasn't happened yet. I keep a dog bowl filled with water in the barn all year round for birds. Hoping they'll just all use that. I'll still catch hens standing on the rim of the horse trough leaning in for water when the full dog bowl is about 6" away and also has fresh clean water in it . I don't get it.

It may be cooler to stand on the edge of the trough. When I put a cinder block in the baby pool it stayed cooler and I had hens that liked to stand on it.

Peeked in at just the right time :love :jumpy

I'm sending my husband to tractor supply to get me a waterer screw on bottom so that I can just screw on a mason jar.

We bought a waterer at tractor supply and it leaks.

I'll only buy the screw on waterers because the one that we got is pretty much useless and a waste of money. It's the one that has tabs that slide into slots, if that makes any sense... The thing always leaks and it drives me nuts
Omg I spilled a 5 gallon sized one of those in my basement like 2 weeks ago 🤦‍♀️ I still have a couple smaller ones, but never again with that thing. Flipped it over and the top came off and water went EVERYWHERE.
Somewhere way earlier on this thread I posted the excel formula for figuring out whether they're on track or not.
I bookmarked it! I'll link to it.

My second goose just hatched! I will post pictures soon. Here are all my babies including little foot I put them all together. I originally had the 2 week olds separate because they were so much bigger already. I put them together when I take them all out together to hang on the extra bed with me though.
Do you think little foot will be ok with the big guys that’s the only one I’m worried about. I marked little foot with an arrow it’s so teenie tiny right?!

I got some bantams from TSC last week. They are a week and a half behind my other chicks so I am keeping them separate. My other chicks are easily quadruple the size of the bantams.
