Heidi has always been good around the birds, BUT I would never leave any dog unchaperoned around birds-for the birds' protection and the dogs'. The turkeys and bigger chickens are quite capable of hurting a small dog; especially a puppy. We have seven small dogs, all trained to accept birds as part of the family. It's not unusual to see chicks cuddled with the dogs out in the sun. Often the turkey poults will do this.

A big drawback on this is that my birds have lost their fear of dogs. I lost three this summer to the neighbors dog that comes into the yard when our dogs are inside.
