does anyone have any showgirls in the east Tennessee area?

I would be willing to buy for a reasonable price
or trade, I still have all the birds on the first post and 21 chicks that are 11 days old: 14 pure white rocks (growing VERY fast), 6 black Australorp mixes, and one 1/2 Cochin. a 4 month old hen that looks like a blue/barred something, maybe an Australorp 4-H hen 8 months, and maybe a few others (I'm not supposed to be getting more chickens before the new coop is done so shhh!

UPDATE: I FOUND A HEN! So I don't need one anymore. Thanks, though!

Hi -- I live near Spring Hill and work in Nashville. I'm thinking of getting a 3rd chicken. . . just so I know that if something happens to one (god forbid) no one will be alone. NO roosters!!! And it would be wonderful to have one who liked people. Of my 2, Clarice was a stray and she is VERY wary and Olivia isnt' terribly friendly, either.

I prefer plain chickens (i.e., not with fuzz and silliness!)--chickens who look like chickens.

Anyone live near me?

I live close to you, but I'm ready to part with any of my girls. However if anything does happen to one of yours before I sell my property, I can be a sucker for a good sob story.

Welcome to BYC, pawsplus! ~ and a word of caution: that sort of thinking ("Oh, just one more!") is what brought me from two to 11. OK, 12, but one is just visiting.

Really.

I'll keep my ears open for a chicken in the area. Good luck!

Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

I was planning on having 7 or 8 birds. I now have about 34, and more on order..........

Walkswithdog -

I love your sig line! That is one of my silly pet peeves (pun intended:D). Shepherd, from the old 'sheep herding' or "Sheperd's Herding Dog" designation.

I have worked with my vet for years doing rescue work (our county/town doesn't have a shelter, so any animals that get picked up go to the town vet to see if anyone claims them as a lost pet, and then he does what he can to rehabilitate/rehome them.) He knows that GSDs are my passion, and that I will also happily work with any of the "dangerous" breeds; so he'll call me to come and pick up any of them that need work, or need medical attention, before they can be truly assessed for adoption possibilities.

If only dogs and chickens got along better than they do! (My one little rescue Rat Terrier curls up with the chickens in the coop and gives them baths. My other Terrier, and the 2 GSDs that I currently have view the chickens as a mobile buffet line. The dogs are in a 1/2 acre enclosure when the chickens are free-ranging, and the chickens are secured in the coop inside a chainlink enclosure when the dogs are free-ranging. This has been, for the most part, very sucsessful.

Cheers!

Katie

Smith2 -- ya still got those barnies, eh?? I finally found some close by me, so now I've got 4 of my own. They turned out to be two pullets and two cockerels, so one of these days I may be rehoming the extra boy. So far, they are very attractive!
