We had to keep animals (except the horses) in the house during the 2003 fires, which we just don't do. But, we had three big dogs in the house because it was literally snowing inches of ashes.
Right now, it's bad, but we haven't been told we should bring animals in the house.
The kids are out of school and we've been advised not to work outside. There is a fire coming over the mountain but it's almost fully contained!

It's scary to have fires so close. To imagine that they were set is frightening. There are so many sickos out there. Good luck with the fog and no wind. Gotta go see potpie pics.

The looters need to be shot, then used a fuel for a back fire...JMHO.

Sorry that it's getting closer...all you Californians are in my prayers.
I wish they could seed the clouds or something like that...

Well, I'm happy to say that the sky is actually blue today and we can go outside and not have watery eyes and scratchy throats!

Thanks for the prayers and thoughts, everybody. We lost over 1000 homes but it's nice to see that people are coming together to help the ones who lost everything.

Total homes lost in CA is now at 2000.

In San Diego 25% of the county has burned. Thats alot as its all land homes were on....

Its really sad.

That is awful. I heard Ramona burned pretty bad, which really hits home for me because I used to spend summers up there for Pony Club Camp.

I have three friends in Ramona, they all still have their homes, but the one friend lost some structures, and her water tank.

They don't have city water right now - well they do but they're under BOIL water orders.... One friend has 18 horses on her property - she managed to evacuate with all of them, and they're all safe.
I was SO worried about them, animals are normally the first left behind, and horses are difficult to evacuate - she started early on, at the first sign of smoke..

I love Ramona - I used to ride my horse in the reserve out there, in the mountains near Barona Casino... so beautiful.... I hope its not all been distroyed.
