That is sooo funny! I heard you could do the same thing in front of a pregnant womans belly and it would tell you the sex of the child.. spin girl, swing boy. NOw I hear you can do it with chicks??!!

...and I also mentioned somewhere that I have two roos that do the squat, so even that's not reliable.
Here's the pullet for comparison (7 weeks)...
Side by side:
I mean, it's pretty obvious these are boys... but they're 20 weeks old, have not crowed, and do the squat... I think they're messed up in the head... not that I'm complaining that my rooster isn't crowing... I have 8 others that are doing plenty of that for everyone...

Thanks wclarence, I never thought to look at the new feathers coming in.
And to the poster that has pointy and round feathers, if you have pointy feathers at all it is a roo.
And to the poster that talked about the ring test. I find that on some birds you can get a real positive going in a circle and then I KNOW it is a female. And a real strong reading of front to back is a male. But, there seems to be some birds that for whatever reason just dont give the spin to the ring one way or the other, and those are my iffy ones.

Are you sure about that? I thought there were some breeds (Sebrights, for example) whose roos are "hen feathered", meaning that they won't be pointed.....

my method always works if crows its a roo if it lays an egg its hen cant go wrong
