To Make An Olive Egger......Legbar?????

Can anyone tell me what you would get by breeding an Olive egger Roo to a blue maran hen? I have a friend that just hatched that cross and I'm wanting some hens that lay dark green or dark brown eggs and I am debating on whether or not to get some of those chicks. I have plenty of blue,white,and tinted egg layers so I don't really want to add any more birds to my flock that aren't going to lay olive or brown.

Cuckoo marans hen. Not sure I would cross it with a cream legbar roo. That would give you olive eggers but I think it would mess up the sex link part. An Ameraucana roo would be better.

These chicks hatched out over the weekend. CL roo and BC Marans hen. Some have large spots on their heads and some have much smaller spots. Am I grasping at straws, or are the ones with the smaller head spots female?

I did this breeding and spots or color had no effect on the sex.

I have been told by several breeders that for the head spots to mean anything it has to be a bcm roo over a legbar hen. The hen passes on the gene that spots the males heads. Let us know hiw it goes

The hen passes the barring gene that puts white spots on the males. You can use any roo

Correct me if I am wrong, but since the two breeds are auto-sexing, would it really matter what the hen/rooster combination is?
