To roof or not to roof?

I'd cover it if you can...not so much because the chooks don't like to be in the rain but it will help keep the run...and all the poop.... from stinking.
Will also keep mud from being tracked into the coop and nests and onto the eggs.
Make sure the roof run off is carried away from the run.

My girls seemed to be pretty miserable slogging through the mud, so we have a temporary cover over them, and will be putting up a more permanent one soon. Our cover is only over the coop itself, and part of the run, so they can choose dry or wet. Bugs and grass, or shavings and feed. Perhaps I am just reading too much into my silly chicken behavior, but that's my two cents. I also put some pine shavings down under the cover as well for a cleaner, dryer ground. The girls have options now, and seem to be cleaner, dryer, and happier.

10x10 covered run with sand, dry no smell and happy girls, what more can a chicken ask for.
