To whomever is dreaming of a white Christmas....

A warm rain wiped out a lot of our snow cover this weekend. I'm sorry I cannot accommodate your request. I am praying for snow. But if there's a particular day that's more convenient for you all, I'd be happy to be specific so as not to interfere with your travel plans.

Come on white Christmas!

Ps- there is no such thing as too much snow.

Clearly you are criminally insane!!!!

I need to make a trip into the holy land to gather some little bunnies for the freezer. I am dreading it because of the 2 ft of snow I need to trudge through. I have snow shoes which helps, but if you have ever worn them you know how much work they are to walk in.... not a fun thing to do ....

Furthermore, the snow is ruining our fishing this season.....with 2 ft of snow on thin ice, the lakes will be more dangerous. The weight of the snow will push the ice down and water will get on top the ice. It will freeze but then you have two thin layers of ice with snow/water between them.

I was talking with a friend last night about fishing. We are worried we might not be able to get out. We might have 7 inches of ice now, barely enough to walk on, let alone drive on or pull a big fish house on. We should have 12-13 inches by now..

So I have no choice but declare you criminally insane, as you can see it’s the only logical option.

You're not the first to question my sanity. I love snow shoeing - much better than post-holing in waist deep snow..
Isn't 7" of ice safe to walk on? Our guidelines say 6" to walk on, 8 for snow machines and 12 for cars. I always err toward more ice, as the only winter fear I have of falling through ice (there's a scene in the movie - Call of the Wild that scarred me as a kid)

But for all other winter - there is a primal man conquers nature adrenaline rush that I haven't found anywhere else.

The heavy snow load on the lakes makes 7 inches iffy in my book. If the ice were uniform across the lakes it fine. But snow depth affects the ice depth under it... and

We had snow when the ice was forming so it’s not as strong as it should be...

As you know there are around 50 words for snow or ice.

The ice we have this year in Eskimo is “youagonnadrownondiscrap”
