I have finally come up with a price for Toad eggs.

I think we will get enough for most of us. I am still trying to establish flocks locally which will take precedent over mailed eggs.

I also have so 4H kids that want to show them in place of the CX's in meat divisions.

I cannot tell you how excited I am to sell some and get new flocks started.

The cost is $15 a dozen and 25 for shipping and packaging. I thought about what some of you said. I decided you were right I sell EE at $10 and these are way more rare and better than EE eggs.

I will try and consider a bunch of things when making the sale. IT WILL NOT BE FIRST COME FIRST SERVED.

My goal is to establish a true meat bird that is self sustaining as most of you know. Because of BYC rules we will have to talk back and forth between this thread and the raising toads thread.

Please report whatever findings you have when you hatch and raise these. I am hoping and praying everyone gets a 50% hatch and does not just raise and butcher these like CX's.

I expect you will butcher and extra rooster or two, if you do raise it 15 weeks before you process it to make sure all the roosters live and to get that HUGE roasting bird.

I know some of you keep meticulous records of weight and feed ratios, Report that.

When it comes to breeding breed only the biggest and best of the breed. I know to start with you will need to breed everything.

Remember almost everything you know about raising chickens and meat birds will change with these birds.

I might even do a lottery to see who wins if everything is equal. I will take paypal , here's to hoping I can remember how to do that!

Do I need a picture?

Terms: Paypal $40 total for a dozen eggs, $15 for eggs and $25 for shipping!

I think I covered what I needed. I cannot mention the offer in the text of a post. (maybe) I will put the link to this thread in my signature line...

Thanks.. Lets spread the toads!!

Posting a message to follow. Cool stuff. I am just getting into chickens but have experience with breeding cattle. I have wanted to do something like this as a breeding project. I know that breeding your own cornish cross is "impossible", but I think with some time and work you oughta get something that breeds true and could get you well above the normal feed efficiency of heritage breeds.

I'd buy a dozen for sure as you have done a ton of the work for me.

Hopefully, I can get you both some eggs this year.

If ,you want to breed CX's you can. but it is really hard. You have to really limit the feed to them to extend their life span. Also you need to force them to walk and free range.

When I started I free ranged 100 CX's. I carried leg bands with me and I marked the birds I found the furthest from the coop. The 10 that free ranged the furthest became my starting birds and gave me my frogs.
So it can be done. I was told it could not be done either. I know one young guy that kept a CX alive for 2years doing this.
