Today at Meyer Hatchery.....

Does Meyer vaccinate for Marek's? I think I saw on their website that they recommend it, but I didn't see where they offer it, unless I missed it when I was checking out. I e-mailed them but haven't gotten a reply.

Thanks!

Yes, but you must add it manually during the checkout process. As of posting this it is $1 per chick, I think. It's only on one screen as you go through checkout (which can be a bit confusing). If you call them they will add it to your order though.

They were great when I was on the phone with them last week.

Price goes down with the number of chicks, for my 18 it was .50 cents each. It goes $1.00 up to 14, .50 cents up to 24 and .25 ents for 25 or over. If you order males and females they will also put leg bands on the males so you know from the start which is which. And check out the Meal Maker program. It's their version of the free chick/mystery chick deal but with a community twist.

I love your dogs they are cute. I have mutts and they are great. I have 3 buff Orphingtons 2 speckled Susex and I Americana name nugget (my son picked out and named) I am new to chickens
so we just wanted to have them in the back yard. Not show stock.

I got the call from the Post office at 6 am today so I now have 18 chickens. A few have names, mostly as I can tell them apart and figure out which breed they are. I had them put a leg band on the rooster (one of the Ameraucanas) so I knew him right off. He's Abajah. And the Buff Orpington is Ophelia. Phoebe is the Partridge Rock, Annabelle the Blue Andalusian and Dorcas the Dominique. The others remain the nameless masses. Looks like my Meal Maker is a Golden Buff.

The bassets are not too sure...they've never had a non-dog critter in their house before--they are interested but cautious.

I think it has to be when they are babies (???), don't know what the exact window is but I think you can buy it and do it yourself.

I went and did a little reading. We oly have the 5 chicks, and don't plan on getting new any time soon. I think we will be ok.
