I will assist too after they zip if needed but won't help them zip as I've heard of people doing. I just don't feel I'm smart enough to know when their ready for that. I don't hatch much maybe a couple of times a year but have been using dry hatch for about 3 years now and have noticed about a 25% increase in my hatch rate. I shoot for the 30% range for the first eighteen days also but only raise to 55-65 for lock down and have found that to be plenty with the raise you get once they start hatching. I'm curious does the higher humidity for lock down help keep the humidity up when you remove chicks? I just leave them all in the bator till the hatch finishes and the only problem I've had with shrink wrapping is when something physically blocks them from getting out of the shell.I'm not saying that removing chicks is something you shouldn't do I just never have and it works for me I even put the ones I've helped out back in the bator till the end of the hatch and never lost one.
