...Jim Morrison's death. He died in Paris while in a bathtub from unknown reasons, most likely heart failure. He was only 27 at the time.

May his music and poetry live on...

Yeah, I can't really believe it. Even if I wasn't born at the time it seems strange.

He was and still is a HUGE influence on my musical / poetry / prose tastes! A great friend in college turned me onto him and The Doors (though I had heard some of their hits before, of course). I became a devotee and know all of the band's albums as well as some of Jim's writings. I read a couple of excellent books about him and the band; "No One Here Gets Out Alive" by Danny Sugarman, and "Riders on the Storm" by John Densmore. Oliver Stone's film was an awesome portrayal, though how accurate is up to subjective interpretation. My roommate and I named our dorm room "The Gold Mine"!!

He died from drug overdose....
Its a shame, because he was a wicked talented guy.

The drug overdose was a possibility, but his death certificate stated it was heart failure. There was no autopsy so no one is quite sure, but I believe it's one of the two just mentioned.

I know.
