Toe problem

I'm not really convinced on the easy to clean argument. I think it is merely because hutches have been designed that way for years, and large scale commercial poultry kept that way too (with little regard for welfare or comfort). It has become habitual. It just isn't necessary for a little backyard or house flock, and it causes injuries.

Your setup looks wonderful. Very happy quail there!
 
Please forgive me! I'm sure it is frustrating for you to see new people making basic mistakes. And there are a lot of newbies this year.

I really love your coop and it was closer to what I envisioned originally. But we live in an area where predators are a constant threat. That is why I am keeping them off the ground. I will post their toes and new hutch set up when I get them finished.
