Tolbunt Polish

Pics
Well I was out out to mom's this weekend- but it was cold so the birds hide in the inside of their coop most of the day. Plus we had soooo much chores (including steer moving) that I didn't get pics done. :-( so I go back out this weekend to visit (and cause it's a farm- they will talk me into working!) So I will hopefully get new pics done! I did pick up 12 more eggs from the GL/Tolbunt split pen, and 11 from the split roo over Tolbunt hens pen.
My first batches of eggs go into lockdown tomorrow. I had to make little dividers for the incubator yesterday so I will know which hatch from which batch for banding them to the right group! 4 differant polish groups with the same hatch out time will NOT be done again!!

My non-cavernous birds still have crests and a V comb (although butterfly type) so I'm sure it isn't fully that which makes the case.

Those two both look cavernous, so, sexing is indeterminate at this age. I personally never judge by crest shape or size but some people do. Only way to know for sure is to let it mature.

My understanding is that all birds that have duplex combs should have cavernous nostrils -- except Buttercups. Is the lack of cavernous nostrils a DQ in Polish, does anyone know?

Also, just hatched out my first Tolbunt this weekend. Very excited and glad to be chiming in to this thread. And no, the chick in this pic does NOT have three feet! LOL

It is not said a defect straight-up in the Polish breed section, however I'd still imagine it so, as it is a breed characteristic that is very important. At least some points cut I'd imagine, but do not know. Either way, it is not desired at all but just so happens to be in one of my original Tolbunts.

Cute chick!!
Do you have the parents? Or did you get hatching eggs?

I received the eggs from someone. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they turn out as they have been outcrossed with Houdan and Orloffs and taken back to Tolbunts for two generations.

Are those the ones they had on Ebay this year? I saw the listing but thought it was Tolbunt roos over houdans & orloffs. Keep us posted on how they turn out!!
